What a Porcelain Crown Can do For You
A crown can be applied in many ways. In the restorative sense, a crown may replace a tooth that has been extracted. In these cases, it’s supported by a dental bridge or an implant.
For many cosmetic treatments, we can apply the crown much like we would a veneer. In this case, they cover up the front of the tooth and they can be customized to the right size, color, and shape to best complement your smile. They are so well-made, so well-sculpted, that your friends and family will hardly know it’s a crown, thinking it instead to be a natural part of your new stunning grin.
The Cosmetic Porcelain Crown Procedure
An appointment for the procedure will be set. If a full crown is placed, we will place it over the affected tooth and then use a light-sensitive resin to keep it stable and in place. This resin will then be hardened with a special curing light.
Sometimes we may recommend partial crowns, also known as
- Onlay — This is a more limited treatment that covers the cusps, or the rounded upper surface, of the tooth.
- Inlay — More limited than
the, an inlay fills the space between the cusps onlay ,or the center of the tooth.
Both are meant to help reshape your teeth and cover holes, cracks, chips, and other damage.
During your consultation with Dr. Ajmo, you will be able to discuss the difference between porcelain crowns and partial crowns. Depending on the results you seek, we will recommend the ideal treatment to achieve the beautiful smile you want.
Am I a Candidate?
- Discolored teeth that are unresponsive to teeth whitening
- Disproportionately shaped teeth
- Cracked or chipped teeth
- Teeth that lack the strength or support to stand on their own
- Extensively decayed or eroded teeth
- Missing teeth (when combined with a bridge or a dental implant)
Gum disease or tooth decay will have to be addressed first, but there’s no dental problem that is beyond hope.
Cost of Porcelain Crowns
You can’t talk about price without considering the benefits. A stunning smile, an appearance that you’re proud of that and that fills you with confidence, that is priceless. Our teeth affect us in so many ways. If we’re ashamed of them, how can we smile? And if we can’t smile, if we can’t be ourselves, how can we be happy?
Being able to see the reactions and the faces of our patients when they see their new dental crowns finally applied is amazing. Porcelain crowns are a time-tested treatment and they are worth checking out.
You’re never under any obligation to invest, but trust the thousands of people who have opted for porcelain crowns in the past, it’s well worth considering.
