If you are missing one or more adjacent teeth, a dental bridge can be an excellent option to restore your dental health and smile. At Jupiter Dentistry, in Jupiter, FL we use E.Max® composite crowns that are strong, durable, and long-lasting while providing an esthetic that looks remarkably natural and authentic.
We place traditional bridges, as well as implant-supported dental bridges like the Prettau bridge used for the Teeth Next Day procedure. Both are good investments, and which one is preferred depends on the unique characteristics of your oral health.
Which option is best for you is something that can only be accurately determined during an in-person consultation. Dr. Ajmo holds a mastership from the prestigious Misch Institute and is a diplomate of the ICOI. Give us a call, schedule your consultation, and see why Jupiter patients trust their smiles in the hands of the recognized Dr. Wyatt and Dr. Ajmo.
Types of Dental Bridges
- Traditional dental bridge – made of two major components, the traditional dental bridge comprises a dental crown and two abutments which attach it to adjacent teeth. A single missing tooth might be replaced in this way or even a row of two or three teeth. This option can be more inexpensive than others, without the long-term longevity of the dental implant.
- Cantilever bridge – a more specialized bridge, here the traditional bridge instead has one abutment because there is only one eligible tooth on one or the other side of the replacement tooth. Cantilever bridges can be used for esthetic reasons or if you have other prosthetic teeth.
- Maryland bridge – much less common than other dental bridges, the Maryland bridge comprises a metal frame with the front half of a dental prosthetic bonded to the frame. The wings of the frame are then bonded to the back of the two adjacent teeth. This type of bridge is not often used.
- Implant-supported bridge – Perhaps one of the most common options, this involves using a dental implant to hold a dental bridge, which can be partial or full-arch. Implants integrate with the jawbone, giving them the strength of a natural tooth root, and enjoy remarkable longevity. At Jupiter Dentistry, we use a Prettau implant-supported bridge for patients who need to replace a full arch of teeth. The results are esthetically amazing and the procedure can take as little as two days.
